WASHINGTON - The Tea Party is accusing President Obama of using his executive powers to impose the controversial Dream Act even though the immigration bill was rejected by Congress last year.

The Dream Act would grant kids in the country illegally the opportunity to become U.S. citizens if they attend college or enlist in the military.

Last week the Obama administration asked immigration judges who make decisions on specific cases to consider things like a person's pursuit of an education in the U.S. and whether someone has an immediate relative that has served in the military when deciding to deport them or not.

Both are elements of the Dream Act -- which again failed to become law.

The administration says these considerations are not new.

The Obama administration has stated in the past it is focused on deporting people in the country illegally who have been caught committing crimes.
