A 19-year-old man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly striking a juvenile at a party in Georgetown.

El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies responded to the 2600 block of Quartz Lane at 2:50 a.m. Saturday on a report of assault with a deadly weapon. A party was being held at the home, and when deputies arrived, juvenile and adult partygoers ran from the home, Sgt. Bryan Golmitz said in a news release.

According to witnesses, Mario Hernandez allegedly struck a male juvenile in the head with a piece of wood following an argument at the party, Golmitz said. The victim was taken to UC Davis Medical Center, where he was listed in critical but stable condition on Saturday night.

Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, providing false identification to a peace officer, using false citizenship documentation, three no-bail misdemeanor warrants out of Contra Costa County and an immigration hold, Golmitz said.

Hernandez is being held in El Dorado County Jail.

Sheriff's officials are still investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information to the case to contact Det. Mike Lensing at (530) 642-4709.
