EDINBURG — A 17-year-old received a seven-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to murder late Monday morning.

Hidalgo County sheriff's deputies arrested Fernando Cuevas Camacho in December 2010 after a chase with deputy constables ended in the Rio Grande near Pepe's On The River, a riverside bar south of Mission.

Camacho stood accused of the murder of his purported smuggling partner, Mario Alberto Gonzalez Cruz, who drowned when the silver Chrysler they were traveling in went into the river.

Camacho struggled to free himself from the submerged vehicle, but survived the accident. Deputies found about 300 pounds of marijuana bundles inside the car.

Camacho's plea deal with prosecutors was accepted in the 398th state District Court.

Seven years for murder, smuggling drugs is no where enough time.

Maybe the judge gave him a break because he killed an illegal alien drug smuggler.

cannot become thoroughly Americans if you think of yourselves in groups. President Woodrow Wilson
