Tempe police say 40 people have been arrested in a heroin sting, including 15 suspected dealers from 10 different trafficking organizations.

Authorities say more than $5,000 in cash and a half-pound of heroin was seized. Police say heroin dealing is skyrocketing in Arizona and much of the drug flooding Arizona is Mexico's black tar heroin.

The seven-month undercover operation was the third such bust for Tempe police this year. In all, police got off the streets 150 pounds of methamphetamines worth $3.5 million, 114 pounds of cocaine worth $2.3 million and 19 ounces of heroin worth $44,000 during the three operations.

Police also seized $1.5 million in cash and arrested 211 suspected drug dealers.
