Tennessee: Slowdown in economy taking a toll on Hispanic-owned businesses

BREAKING — About two years ago, Mexico native Carlos Perez left his job at a factory in Dayton, Tenn., to start Perez Produce, a distributing company for local Hispanic restaurants and stores.

Now, Mr. Perez said he regrets leaving a stable job at the La-Z-Boy factory because the produce business is not going well and he is on the verge of closing.

“When I first started with the business two years ago it was going well, but starting about three months ago it started going down, down,â€

Have your signs in Spanish, cater to just one group of people, treat the rest with contempt......what do you expect?

What a dumb story! Cater to illegal aliens and I could care less if your business suffers. They rip off illegal aliens by charging much higher prices and that's how they profit. They should not be in business.

I know plenty of hispanic and other ethnic businesses that are thriving and there's a reason for it. They do business in ENGLISH (plus their native languages) and they welcome ALL customers. They also can't get away with ripping people off like they do to illegal aliens.

The economic slowdown has taken a far greater toll on non-citizen immigrants, especially those from Latin American countries, than it has on the U.S. population as a whole, according to a Pew Hispanic Center analysis of Census Bureau data.

I am sorry for LEGAL immigrants who lost their business or their jobs. But I do not feel for the illegal aliens that are here who probably took the job of an American. They should not have been working in our country anyway.

But just think . . . Hispanic businesses in Mexico will do better.

Good, more need to leave. Leave comments at the site. I did. Hundreds of millions of dollars spent on illegal aliens and catering to foreign languages, including Spanish. Many of these businesses, whether run by legal immigrants or illegal aliens are profiting from the very large illegal alien presence in Chattanooga, Cleveland, Knoxville, Clarksville, Nashville, and on and on.

Some of the businesses listed in the article were strongly suspected of illegal alien hiring by the thousands. Hopefully, any jobs remaining will be held by citizens first who have been devastated by the illegal alien cheap labor.

Just today, someone who lives in Nashville,TN was talking about the hispanic gangs, which includes illegal aliens (MS 13), who have created fear in many communities, committing crime and randomly shooting out windows, etc. While Nashville does have the 287 g, many who have been deported do return because of the porous border. More crime is then committed.

We have many of those in our town. I would be very open to shopping/trading at these types of shops but....

Look at what has happened to this business. First shot over a year ago. Second is recently.

Thank you fedup for the reality of how our cities change and cater to the illegal aliens.
