Tenn. sheriff thinks immigrant bootlegging busts could be trend
The Associated Press

NASHVILLE, Tenn. --Bootlegging might be making a comeback in Tennessee.

Sheriff Esco Jarnagin in East Tennessee's Hamblen County blames a growing immigrant population and a state law that requires everyone - no matter how old - to be carded when buying beer.

Jarnigan says illegal immigrants don't have IDs, so many end up buying beer from a bootlegger.

He and his deputies raided a mobile home last fall where the Hispanic residents were selling beer by the can without a permit.

The two caught running the operation pleaded guilty, getting $100 fines and probation.
