    TX: Controversial Immigration Bill

    Controversial Immigration Bill
    KFOX News

A Texas lawmaker is trying to pass a controversial immigration bill that has some El Paso residents angry.

Ruth De Jesus from west El Paso said that is what this county was founded on. She disagrees with the proposal. Texas State Rep. Leo Berman is proposing a bill saying citizenship should not be automatic for the children of immigrants.

"I think if people pay taxes they deserve what they have in the United States," David Matallenes told KFOX-TV on Saturday.

Many people interviewed by KFOX disagreed with the proposal, but some said they can relate to the other side of the argument.

But to others, the mere fact the proposal is in place is unsettling.

Berman said he hopes the issue ends up in federal court. Hispanic activists said the bill has little chance of passing, and that if it somehow did the governor would never sign it.

OH what tangled webs you have woven Mr. Perry
Never look at another flag. Remember, that behind Government, there is your country, and that you belong to her as you do belong to your own mother. Stand by her as you would stand by your own mother

When are these folks going to come to the realization that the wants and desires of a handful of border towns are non-consequential when compared to the security and well-being of an entire country.

Welcome to El Paso--the armpit of Texas. The town looks like a Third World country. Unclean, full of graffitti. Not surprising they are up in arms. Has this reporter interviewed the citizens of Del Rio, Laredo, Brownsville, and Eagle Pass yet? Sounds like the reporter isn't biased at all.
