Texas police found a kilo of cocaine at a traffic stop, and an investigation led to the discovery of 5 illegal aliens who were being kept in the attic of a home across a school.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said that police found a kilo of cocaine during a traffic stop at about 6 a.m. Tuesday near the home. They detained one male from the traffic stop.

During an investigation, they were led to the home on Pyron Avenue where officers expected to complete a drug bust, said Bexar County Sheriff's Office spokesman Deputy Johnny Garcia.

At the home, they found cash, weapons, and a stolen truck. As they continued to investigate, they discovered four men and a woman from Mexico in an attic space. The migrants ranged in age from 20 to 40 years old.

Police said they found hundreds of thousands of dollars at the home and detained a second male.

"It literally is a block away, steps away from Harlandale High School, so it's very disturbing to know that fact," said Garcia.

He went on to say that the human smuggling operation had likely been running for some time at the house.

The migrants admitted to paying several thousands of dollars to be brought from Mexico to the house in San Antonio, where they arrived on Monday. They were not harmed, but they said they were thirsty and had not been fed in some time.

The smuggling victims were taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations.

Garcia said the two men are likely going to face five counts of human smuggling.
