Thirty-four immigrants found inside drop house in Yuma

YUMA - Authorities have shut down a one-bedroom "drop house" where 34 illegal immigrants were found.
It's the seventh drop house that federal authorities have discovered in Yuma County in the last five weeks.

Drop houses are homes, apartments or motel rooms where migrant smugglers hide their customers while payment and travel arrangements are made before would-be illegal workers are sent elsewhere.

The bust in Yuma on Friday was prompted by a call from a concerned citizen.

The house didn't have utilities, water and air conditioning. Temperatures inside the home were at least 110 degrees.

Border Patrol agents estimated the illegal immigrants had been at the house for at least seven hours.

Joe Brigman, a spokesman for the U.S. Border Patrol in Yuma, said authorities are investigating the owners of the house.
