This is actually part of their culture, and is why the woman (a mother herself, obviously unaffected by the rape of a child) thought nothing of hiding the pervert. It was "normal" for her to do, and hiding his illegal alien status was more important than protecting children from being raped. They welcomed him in their homes - MEXICAN CULTURE.
