Man pre-files to run for Okaloosa Sheriff; vows to crack down on illegal immigration

SHALIMAR — It’s too early to tell if illegal immigration will become a job-ending liability for Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris.

But debate about how to enforce federal immigration laws locally has drawn one man to run against Morris in the Aug. 26, 2008 Republican primary.

John Lollar of Shalimar filed papers to run against Morris earlier this month.

“I don’t think he really realizes how upset the community is about the way he’s handlingâ€

This is a county where the citizens need to keep a close eye on the voting process. If it is not clear how the voter registrants are handling illegal immigrants, call and ask them. If there is any ambiguity, call the district attorney and tell him of the concerns.
