Graham urges GOP to address issues important to young people, Hispanics
Senator says offering ideas on immigration, energy will expand party's base
By Clark Brooks • Staff Writer • June 13, 2010

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham says the GOP cannot hope to regain the White House and grow in coming decades if Republicans are not significant players in passing meaningful immigration and energy reform.

Those issues are of great importance to two groups Republicans badly need: young people and Hispanics, Graham told The Greenville News .
Graham said clean energy is a critical issue for young people, and “we have a problem with 30 and younger voters.â€

If there is no TOTAL enforcement of our exsisting immigration laws BEFORE then, no way Jose.

Not for awhile. Think SC re-elected him last year, if not then it was the year before.

Yes, had amnesty, been there done that and it brought us 20 million more illegals.

And, if, and that's a big IF, amnesty were to occur, the Republican Party wouldn't matter for another couple decades or so.

Say, how about enforcing our existing immigration laws?

It's pretty obvious from this article that Graham is not sincere or serious about truly securing the southern border or enforcing the laws; he just wants Obama to pretend to "do something" (i.e., small number of troops on border) to try to make amnesty more palatable.

And we all know that the federal commission would likely be stacked with amnesty-sympathetic members and would be designed to provide political cover for pols.

We won't be fooled and will do our best not to let others get fooled if and when Graham and others start peddling this.

So what he's saying is that he wants immigration reform for political gain, not for the benefit of the country as a whole. Party first, citizens last.
