Del.icio.us | Digg | Print Story | E-Mail Story | Font Size An illegal immigrant accused of kidnapping a baby and injuring two people in a crash he
    caused takes a plea deal.
He agreed to custodial interference and serving 11 months and 29 days.
Andres Hernandez Cabrera stood before Judge Ron Durby with an interpreter.
One week ago today, police say Cabrera took 19 month old Nery Macario Diaz and drove away.
Cabrera lived in the same Brainerd house, which was cut into different apartments, as the baby and his family.
Later that same evening, police say Cabrera crashed into Paulette Payne's car.
She and her husband attended his court hearing. Stanley Payne was obviously frustrated with the sentence and the system, "This being the melting pot of the world, it puts kind of a sore spot, thank God I'm a Christian. But people who come across the line the way they do and have more rights and privileges than those persons that were born and raised here and pay taxes, it's just not right."

The judge says Cabrera will get two for one credit at Silverdale if he behaves.
Immigrations and Customs Enforcement does have a hold on him.

I think police departments should allow officers to do what one department I know of does. If they catch them committing a misdemeanor they don't take them to jail if they are illegal but rather to the nearby Border Patrol office where they will get deported rather than sit in jail for a short time and remain here. If they get caught committing the smaller crimes first they won't be here to graduate to felony crimes.
