The House in November requested information from Mayorkas on the incident, though Jordan stated "DHS did not provide the Committee with a response or the requested information and documents."

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan on Thursday subpoenaed Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas seeking materials related to reports of Border Patrol agents cutting through a wire fence that Texas installed near a major entry point for illegal aliens.

"Under the Biden Administration, more than 6.2 million illegal aliens have been allowed to enter our country, including 1.8 million known illegal alien 'gotaways' and 4.4 million illegal aliens released into the country by the Biden Administration," Jordan wrote.

He then pointed to Eagle Pass, Texas, the crossing point in question and highlighted a September incident that saw a surge in illegal crossings near the area.

"While thousands of illegal aliens flooded into Eagle Pass, shutting down lawful commerce across the bridges, the Biden Administration’s DHS cut and removed concertina wire and fencing installed as a deterrent by the state of Texas, helping the aliens cross illegally," he went on.

The House in November requested information from Mayorkas on the incident, though Jordan stated "DHS did not provide the Committee with a response or the requested information and documents."

He did, however, acknowledge that the DHS offered an "operational briefing" in January, though the agency failed to schedule the briefing and ultimately retracted the offer.
