MISSION - A tip to police helped take down a sophisticated drug smuggling operation and uncovered quite a collection of superstitious shrines as well.

Mission police said when they arrived at a home near the 3500 block of Bryan Road, they were given consent to search the home by the people living there.

"I guess they didn't think we were going to come out to the back, and we found some blocks and boulders molded in. Within those molds was bundles of marijuana. We don't know the amount or extent of the marijuana," said Mission Police Chief Leo Longoria.

Along with the hidden narcotics, police also found a small trailer full of bundles of drugs. Inside the home, officers discovered several shines aimed at protecting them from both their enemies and the police.

"I'm not familiar with what appears to be some sort of black magic that they are doing here in this location. The fact that there's canisters with what appears to be remains of animals and candles and worshipping stuff but it's happening in our backyards," said the police chief.

The bust was so big, Mission police had to call in help from other departments.
