Local Company Recalls Olives After Bacteria Scare
(CBS4) POMPANO BEACH A Florida company said Friday it is recalling jars of olives because they may be contaminated with a bacteria that can cause food poisoning.

Flora Foods, of Pompano Beach, has recalled its 25-ounce jars of "Cerignola Olives" because they could be contaminated with clostridium botulinum, which can cause a potentially fatal form of food poisoning.

The recalled olives were distributed in retail stores in Florida, Georgia and upstate New York. The product comes in a clear glass jar with the designation L-O-T .G-080 stamped on the label.

The company says no illnesses linked to the olives have been reported.

Company officials say routine testing found the product had been underprocessed
