A man who attempted to hide more than 2,300 pounds of marijuana among pallets of honeydew melons was arrested Thursday at the Nogales port of entry.
The discovery was made around noon when a tractor trailer driven by a 58-year-old man from Nogales, Sonora, was selected for further inspection at the port, according to a news release from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
CBP officers decided to use the X-ray system on the semi and noticed anomalies in the images, so the trailer was opened and unloaded, the release said. During the unloading, 300 packages of marijuana were discovered.
The driver, who was a participant in the Free and Secure Trade program, was arrested, the release said. The FAST program is designed to give registered travelers bringing imports into the country expedited processing.
The driver’s membership was revoked and the marijuana and the tractor trailer were seized, according to the news release.

My dad & buddies will be happy about this one!!! Right now he's on his way to CA with eggs from IA. He goes from the central plains to CA 2-3 times a month hauling perishables and this Free and Secure Trade program is a very HOT issue amongst the OTR drivers who move goods throughout the US!!

Like, we didn't KNOW this was going to happen?

    Puh-leeze!!! Hello, Bush??? Hell-ooooo!!!

Besides importing slave laborers to decrease our wages, they're letting these Mexicans on OUR highways ... which means OUR truckers are now screwed ... they're not going to be satisfied until EVERY SEGMENT OF OUR SOCIETY is outsourced or exported or imported.

Why are they not inspecting EVERY SINGLE ONE?
If our truckers were to take the cargo, time would have to be spent changing drivers ... the least they could do (while they screw our truckers out of their jobs) is take the same time and inspect the cargo.

This will look like childs play if they ever let the Semi's pilot go into affect. We should send this story to our congressmen and tell them this will be nothing compared to what is going to happen.

Well, at least the authorities acquired some hard assets.
