    (CNSNews.com) -- Top leaders in the Puerto Rican government, including the governor, speaker of the House, and president of the Senate told CNSNews.com on Capitol Hill that they want Puerto Rico to become a U.S. state. The U.S. House of Representatives passed a measure on Thursday that will permit Puerto Ricans to vote on a ballot that, as one option, would allow the process to statehood to commence.

    “Even though this is not a statehood bill, yes, I believe we should become a state -- we have been natural born citizens since 1917,â€
