Trump is doing what he thinks is in the country’s best interest

Trump is doing what he thinks is in the country’s best interest

Treasure Coast Newspapers Published 4:00 a.m. ET Dec. 30, 2018

Love him or hate him, most people agree on one thing. President Trump does what he thinks is in the best interest of the United States.

For example, Trump favors a wall on our southern border to control immigration from the south. Democrats have gone on record for years against illegal immigration. Now they say no to Trump's plan.

Trump withdrew from the Paris accord because it penalized the U.S. while allowing China carte blanche. Has anyone breathed the air in China? If any country needs environmental reform, it's China.

Our previous federal corporate income tax rate was 35 percent. Many of our large employers were moving part or all of their operations to foreign countries where the rates were lower (e.g., Ireland, 10% and the UK, 19%). Trump lowered the rate to 21 percent and now the outflow has stopped, and there are indications that some companies may move here. Of course, no Democrats voted in favor of the tax bill.

North Korea was one of our major threats in 2017. While it is not solved, we're talking. That's more than we got out of Presidents Clinton, Bush, or Obama.

One of the major blunders of past administrations has been our failures in dealing with Iran. We have gotten nowhere by being nice. At least now, with the reinstitution of sanctions, they have to concentrate on dissension at home rather than fomenting revolution elsewhere.

There are certainly many who feel that the president is callous, crass and brash. Certainly everyone is tired of the torrent of tweets. But Trump is our president; and no matter our party affiliation, we should give him some breathing room. He is doing what he thinks is right, and so far, the results are good.

The "torrent of tweets" are news of his Presidency that the media doesn't cover, so yeah, I guess his detractors and haters despise those. Others who support him just say they wish he would tweet less because a) they didn't read them b) they only heard about them through the negative media and c) somehow conclude that he shouldn't tell the American people what he's doing and why he's doing it.

Trump's Twitter and Facebook accounts are an amazing historical record of his fast-moving, remarkable Presidency. Anyone who doesn't read them every day at least a couple of times, is missing out on a lot of what this wonderful President has done and is doing for our country.

I don't understand a lot of what I have determined is a schizophrenic hatefulness towards this President. Usually you hate someone who is hurting you or harming you in some important way, when everything Trump has done, is doing and will do is helping our citizens and country. I understand if federal workers and suppliers now hate him for the government shutdown because that is hurting them, and I think the President is wrong to have gone down this road to build the wall. Hopefully he'll realize this problem has to be solved another way, or maybe he'll surprise even me and pull a rabbit out of the hat with it, but I don't think so.

That aside, everything else has been for our good and improvement, truly fixing our poor beleaguered nation in monumental fundamental ways that benefit all of our citizens and legal residents, so why try to destroy him? By destroying Donald Trump, you are destroying yourselves and your own futures. Who does that? What normal person would even want to do that? I don't understand it. It's like another personality hase evolved in them and taken them over to harm our country, in a self-destructive manner. Strangest thing I've ever seen.

    Worrisome, too.

Trump had better not listen to Lindsay Grahamnesty...Graham will be pushing for "TPS" status for the thousands pouring over our border and a path to citizenship for these illegal aliens! He is not to be trusted.

We want them all deported and removed from our country.

We want this invasion stopped once and for all and give them NO hope to come here for asylum, TPS, green card or any other bogus scam to let them come here.

TPS is not "temporary"...we want NO deal...they never leave!

We already let 1,000,000 in every year legally...we do not want any more coming here in ANY other scam, sham, programs!

It is a privilege to come here...not the RIGHT of 2 billion people on the planet.

CONGRESS HAS NO RIGHT TO TAKE OUR MONEY AND GIVE IT TO FOREIGNERS COMING HERE ILLEGALLY.

NO MORE PROGRAMS, NO BACK DOOR AMNESTY, NO FREE PASS AND NO PATH TO STAY HERE!

GO HOME AND FIX THEIR COUNTRIES PROBLEMS WITH THEIR MONEY...NOT OURS!

    PROTECT AMERICAN CITIZENS...SEND THEM HOME!

SEND THESE FAMILIES AND CHILDREN TO THEIR PRESIDENT TO CARE FOR THEM!

Yeah, Graham suggested $5 billion for the "wall" and the Bridge Act and TPS "Reform".

Like I've said, this is not a fight, it's suicide.

"TPS" reform...a.k.a. dump every poor person on the planet on the US taxpayers to pay for. There is nothing "temporary" about it!

He also wants us to stay in never ending wars in Syria and Middle East to pay for too!

NO WAY GRAHAMNESTY...WE ARE NOT THE WORLD'S DUMPING GROUND, ATM MACHINE OR MILITARY TO FIGHT THEIR CIVIL WARS!
