TV ADS CALL FOR SLOWING LEGAL IMMIGRATION

TV ADS CALL FOR SLOWING LEGAL IMMIGRATION UNTIL BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA IS WORKING AGAIN

Federal Government Continues Admitting Millions of Legal Immigrants and Temporary Workers To Take Californians’ Jobs Despite High Unemployment

Bakersfield, CA – February 28, 2011 – Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) has launched a TV campaign in Bakersfield, California calling for lower levels of legal immigration and temporary workers until Californians are working again. The ads are launching as the federal government continues to admit more than 1 million immigrants and temporary workers a year to take American jobs despite the country’s highest unemployment levels since the Great Depression.

In Bakersfield, the unemployment rate currently exceeds 16% but has topped 18% within the last year. The national unemployment rate is around 9%. Recent studies by the Pew Hispanic Center and Northeastern University indicate that new immigrants are landing American jobs while Americans are losing jobs.

“With Bakersfield unemployment at 16%, it’s time for Congressman Kevin McCarthy to stand up for Bakersfield workers,â€

    CAPS--

they have been around for a while and have been fighting immigration issues, esp. illegal immigration.

They also recognize the problem with an enlarged population exceeding the sustainable resources of California. I do not live there., I just happened to read some of their articles over the past couple of years.

If you have time look for Joe Guzzardi's articles.

CAPS has been around for a long time. I followed them before I found ALIPAC. There have been a lot of groups here in California over the years that have fought long and hard against illegal aliens. Most of them have faded away. Groups that I am sure you never heard of.

I heard of prop 187 when they passed it. Subsequently the Gov stopped all appeals and since then little has been done. I had wondered about the portions of that bill that addressed education , since Plyler v Doe had been decided in Texas in 1982 along with it's piggyback case, Texas v. certain named and unnamed Alien Children. Texas had passed this law in 1975 during revisions to the educational system. Perry signed a bill in 2001 granting Illegals in state tuition , and we are not happy here about that, one reason he will not get my vote. The recent passage of the " California Dream Act" is an insult to every legal immigrant and native born Citizen in CA. I do not live there and in no way mean to sound snarky , but it seems like a point of critical mass has been archived or is very close to being achieved there where Illegals and their supporters outnumber Illegal opponents. With Perry at the helm here in Texas we are trying to prevent that here. Garden variety Illegals are given free rein while he and Dewhurst had adopted Nappy's recent directive of only targeting Illegal criminals , long before Homeland security made it policy. Here in Texas we have passed some legislation , but our top leaders are on the fence. Just saying that to the rest of the country California's policy towards Illegals since 2000 seems to be Pro Illegal. Just the perception of someone looking at it from the outside.
