BAD AXE — Two illegal immigrants employed at a Port Hope-area dairy farm were arrested following a traffic stop Saturday.

According to Bad Axe Police Chief Michael H. Anderson, Officer Shawn Webber stopped a vehicle in the city of Bad Axe at 5:40 p.m. Saturday for having an expired registration plate.

During the routine traffic stop, Webber discovered the 30-year-old male driver and his 20-year-old male passenger did not have valid driver’s licenses.

Anderson said the men claimed they recently started working for a Port Hope-area dairy farm, but the men were unable to give officers the name of the farm where they worked.

Both men were found to be in the United States illegally from Mexico, according to Anderson.

The men were arrested and transported to the Huron County Jail where as of press time today they remained lodged pending pick up by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.

Anderson said ICE agents will handle the matter further. It was unclear if the men will be deported back to Mexico.

As for the vehicle the men were driving, Anderson said the vehicle is locally owned and has been picked up by the owner.

" How does the writer of this article, Stacy Langley, know for a fact that the illeal aliens were employed at a local dairy farm since the aliens could not even name it? Also, if the vehicle with the expired registration was returned to the owner, how did the aliens get the vehicle and if it was stolen, then why wasn't the driver charged accordingly? "

" Now who would give two illegal Mexicans their vehicle to drive? I would dare say it is the person(s) who had them shipped up here to work the farm. This is one of the roots of the problem with illegals. We need to come down hard on the employers who not only violate state, federal, and God knows what other laws as well as the illegals themselves. This hurts the local citizen who is not working. This hurts the economy when wages paid get mailed straight south to Mexico. People know who is looking for illegals and people know who is hiring and letting illegals sleep in the barn or whatever. People need to start dropping a few names to the feds and local police departments. Clean up these rats nests and let everyone know just who hires and welcomes the illegals. Directly or indirectly, this hurts all of us. "

" Steve G you astound me! First of all what gives you the right to talk about something you have absolutely no clue about. These employers are not breaking laws as you so elegantly put it. They pay the taxes they are suppose to be paying for having employees. These employees, most of them, come here with work permits. They may not be a legal citizen of the united states but that does not mean they don't have permits to be here. Secondly how in the world do you know where the money these employees make goes? How do you know even one cent is being shipped to Mexico or any other country for that matter? Have you ever taken a second yourself to get to know these people or anything about their lives? Until you do you have no right in saying anything because all your doing is spreading vicious lies and rumors and destroying others lives in the process! As far as living in barns...do you really believe that or are you trying to be ignorant?

My statement to the other people that feel these "people" are taking over jobs that "real citizens" could have; here are two job openings lets see who actually applies. I know in the past the employer of these people put out adds for job openings and never got any response so is he suppose to let his farms suffer and not be able to feed his own family or find someone who will actually work? "

" I would like to ask .. is he offering a US wage or is he offering the Mexico wage?? Maybe not everyone of the illegals sends all their money back BUT it is statistically shown that the majority do. If they had permits to work here they wouldnt be locked up. "

" Dear Supporters of Invaders,
These "People" are invading our country, breaking the laws of our country, and working jobs that citizens will work and have worked. You that support these Invaders of the United States need to realize that driving a car without the knowledge of the laws and how to read or speak ENGLISH, is not SAFE and ILLEGAL!!! The invaders by all rights should be handed back to their own country and tell them to work hard to make their OWN COUNTRY a better place for them to live and work. In any other nation people running drugs, slaves, money, and arms, across the border to a country that they are not legally allow to be, would be jailed and possibly executed! We have laws to protect UNITED STATES CITIZENS, who is any one that is born here and/or has completed a process to become a citizen, from harm and invasion from foreigners. These MILLIONS of Invaders are draining our nations programs and tax payers!! This INSANITY needs to stop!! These "people" need to be removed instantly and the "people" they worked for fined one million dollars and the second offense seized by the government!! These invaders by facted have been found living in a barn or more than 15 living in a three bedroom home. ILLEGAL!! Allowing your work permit to expire and remaining in the country. ILLEGAL!! NOT PAYING INCOME TAXES AND WORKING IN THE UNITED STATES. ILLEGAL!!! STOP THE MEXICAN INVASION ON THE UNITED STATES, order your goverment to get into action. "
