Originally posted on July 15, 2006
Two Bonita Springs men, one here illegally, were arrested Friday night during an undercover drug sting, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office reports.
At 9:15 p.m., undercover detectives allegedly purchased cocaine from two men, identified as Juan Marcos Buenaventura and Martin Cordova. The investigation revealed Buenaventura, 47, of 27974 E. Oakland Drive, is an illegal immigrant who had a fraudulent Florida driver’s license, Sheriff’s Deputy Angelo Vaughn said.
Vaughn said Immigration Customs Enforcement will take custody of him after facing local charges. Cordova lives in Bonita Springs, but is listed as homeless.
Seized during the investigation was about $4,800 in cash and two grams of powder cocaine, with a street value of $150.
Buenaventura was charged with one count each of cocaine distribution, cocaine possession, fraudulent possession of an identification card and driving a vehicle without a valid ID. Cordova, 32, was charged with distribution of cocaine. The drug charges are felonies; the vehicle and ID charges are misdemeanors.
According to Lee County Jail records, Cordova was arrested Thursday for failure to appear in court and impersonation fraud. He was released Friday. Buenaventura has a list of Lee County crimes dating to 2000, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and damage to property between $200 and $1,000.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn
