129 Illegal Immigrants Busted in Alamo Area in Less Than a Week

Federal agents busted a total of 129 illegal immigrants in a couple of stash houses in the Alamo area in less than one week. Eight alleged smugglers are also in federal custody.


Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino says human stash houses have always been a major problem. Now he’s seeing changes in the way smugglers operate.


“The only difference we’ve seen lately, when I say lately I mean three or four years, the only difference is now they are renting houses in upper middle class, very nice quiet neighborhoods so that they do not draw that attention,” says Trevino.


Trevino says lots of trash and the absence of normal family activity are two of the biggest ways his department identifies a stash house.
