Businesses Unaffected by Sanctions Law
Arizona punishes those who hire illegals
PHOENIX - Two-thirds of Arizona small businesses surveyed recently said they are not affected by the new state law punishing employers that knowingly hire illegal immigrants.
Sixty-five percent of the small businesses polled by O'Neil Associates, Silver State Bank and the Arizona Small Business Association said Arizona's sanctions law had no impact on them.
The Legal Arizona Workers Act, which went into effect in January, can result in the loss of business licenses for those knowingly employing illegal immigrants.
The survey was conducted in late March with 3,000 Arizona small businesses. Twenty-two percent said the sanctions law was hurting their business, while 13 percent said it was having a positive impact.
Business and Hispanic groups have been challenging the law in court.

It has no impact on businesses abiding by the law.
