Agents find load of marijuana in truck at El Paso border

EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Customs agents in El Paso have seized more than 3,300 pounds of marijuana hidden in a shipping container.

The drugs, hidden in a false compartment of the container, were discovered yesterday afternoon.

Officer Rick Lopez says agents working at an international bridge near downtown El Paso X-rayed the truck, which the driver claimed was hauling empty containers.

The X-ray revealed a hidden compartment.

A drug-sniffing dog named Irwin helped locate the 270 packages of marijuana, weighing nearly 3,345 pounds.

The drugs have a street value of nearly three million dollars.

The driver was not arrested and returned to Mexico after the incident. The manifest shows the containers were destined for El Paso.

(One question--why was the driver returned to Mexico and not arrested?)

The driver was not arrested....for crap sakes what is going on, this is unbelieveable, oh ya right the driver is innocent!

Is this truck one of the ones who is allowed to drive into the US by the DOT? Why wasn't he arrested? Everyone should print out this article and keep it. Next time an American gets caught with a joint and arrested, they should present this article to their attorney and fight their arrest.

Adding this to show the value of this bust. And no one was arrested????

$3,000,000 worth of marijuana stopped at the border

EL PASO, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than $3,000,000 worth of drugs at the U.S.-Mexico border. The agents discovered huge bales of pot concealed in a false compartment in a truck trying to cross into America at the Bridge of Americas Monday.

The driver told CBP that he was hauling an empty container, but after an x-ray of the vehicle, agents spotted the false compartment. Then a drug sniffing dog pointed the agents to the marijuana. In all, 3,343 pounds of marijuana were confiscated.

No one was arrested.
