Alamo Fire Chief No Longer Taking Nighttime Calls Near Rio Grande

ALAMO - A late night call to the river’s edge leaves one Valley fire chief questioning how to keep his men safe.

It started with a call for assistance. Border Patrol needed help locating two bodies spotted along the Rio Grande. Alamo fire Chief Rolando Espinoza says the late night call posed too many dangers in the dark of night.

"We changed our mind and procedure of not dragging at night or going out there at night, and now with the border violence, we just don’t go out there. Even in the daytime, we make sure the Border Patrol is out there to assist us,â€
