FREER — Locked inside the bed of an SUV and sweating profusely.

That's how Border Patrol agents described several undocumented immigrants discovered during the weekend in South Texas.

They were found inside the locked bed of a Chevrolet Avalanche that was stopped Saturday at a checkpoint on Interstate 35 near Laredo, federal officials said.

A drug-sniffing dog alerted agents to the possible presence of contraband in the back of the SUV, where agents found five undocumented immigrants lying down inside, according to a news release.

The bed's lack of ventilation took its toll on the group, which received medical assistance from Border Patrol paramedics, according to the release.

Another undocumented immigrant also was discovered near Freer after agents received an emergency distress call.

Agents located the man, who was found severely dehydrated and suffering from high blood pressure. The undocumented immigrant was rushed by ambulance to a Laredo hospital, federal officials said. South Texas Border Patrol agents have been dispatched to more than 1,200 rescues this year involving undocumented immigrants.

The man could not have been "severely dehydrated" if he was "Sweating profusely" just another example of the media distorting the truth.
