Border Patrol agents stop convicted felon attempting to cross into U.S. near Mount Cristo Rey

Border Patrol agents working near Mount Cristo Rey detained a man minutes after he made an illegal entry into the United States late Wednesday night, officials said.
When taken for processing, Julian Hernandez Bernal, 45, was found to have a lengthy criminal record, including a 1991 conviction for rape. Hernandez was also a previously departed felon.
Hernandez was taken to the Otero County Detention Facility pending criminal prosecution for re-entry after deportation.
