    what an excellent article----

    what an excellent article----
I am in the process of writing an essay titled the Illegal Immigration Issue.

Jazz' article hits on some really important issues about America. We here in America are , or used to be able to have the freedom of choice. I know people of differnt intelligence levels, some of them preferred to work with tools or with their hands. They had no desire to enter the halls of academe. My oldest boy was one of those. He wasin the 99.6 percentile on his SATs. He was a terrible student. He chose work in the oil and later the construction industry. My company transferred me to Florida. My son decided to come down and live with us. He very shortly learned what illegal immigrants do to the labor market. He was a roofer. He was earning (1990 timeframe), $17.50/hour. He had checked and expected to make $15.00/hour in Tampa. He went out on the job--the most he got was $6.50 an hour and was one of the few English speaking people on the crew. He left the roofing job and went to work for a moving company at a somewhat better salary.

Any employer who hires illegals should have his business license suspended. Anyone who votes for John McCain should have their citizenship revoked.

I'm a roofer and John McCain and his shadow Lindsey lost my vote in 2006. I have two years of college and was an instructor and master gunner my last few years in the military. Even though the competition in construction is fierce with all of the illegals, I am my own boss. That is what matters to me.

And it is because of no-nothings like the woman that made this comment that pisses me off. Roofing and every other job in the construction industry are honorable professions. You have dirtbags in construction just like you have in every other line of work in this country. They are in the minority. From her point of view I guess I should just get completely out roofing and let the illegals have it.
