U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol Agents from the Laredo Sector had a busy Independence Day Holiday.Between Tuesday and Wednesday, they arrested four suspects wanted in connection with drug and alien smuggling, deported more than 10 illegal immigrants and recovered more than $164,000 worth of marijuana.

n Wednesday, agents from the Laredo South Station arrested 21-year-old Noe Orlin Larios-Herrera of Honduras.

Authorities said Larios-Herrera was previously deported in 2005 and has an outstanding warrant out of San Francisco, Calif., for drug possession.

Larios-Herrera was not extradited to California on the drug charges. Instead, he was criminally charged with re-entry after deportation, authorities said. Once the case is adjudicated, he will be sent back to Honduras.

n Also Wednesday, agents from the Laredo North Station were called in to assist Union Pacific Railroad police with two illegal immigrants who were intercepted at the Laredo train yard.

Authorities ran a background check on the two suspects and found that one of them, identified as Jorge Luis Perez-Camargo, had a criminal history and an outstanding arrest warrant out of Polk County, Florida, for sexual battery.

The Polk County Sheriff's Department was contacted and Perez-Camargo was taken to Webb County Jail, where he is pending extradition to Florida.

n Wednesday evening, Laredo North Station agents on routine patrol near the riverbanks at Laredo Community College apprehended two illegal immigrants and a U.S. Citizen. Additional agents from the Laredo South Station subsequently apprehended four additional persons. All seven were taken back to the Laredo North station for processing.

The illegal immigrants were from Ecuador, Guatemala, Peru and Mexico, authorities said.

The driver, a U.S. citizen identified as Juan Antonio Sanchez, was charged with alien trafficking. His vehicle was seized by authorities.

n Agents assigned to the Hebbronville traffic checkpoint on Hwy 359 stopped a car Wednesday afternoon that was transporting several illegal immigrants. The driver, identified as 35-year-old Elisa Maria Rodriguez, was arrested and charged federally with alien smuggling.

Authorities said a pair of Mexican nationals – from the Mexican state of Guerrero - were found hidden in the trunk.

n Hebbronville agents assigned to the Highway 16 traffic checkpoint on Tuesday afternoon stopped a tractor-trailer carrying more than $164,000 worth of marijuana in a concealed compartment.

The contraband was discovered following a search by a service canine. Drug Enforcement Administration agents took custody of the driver, one passenger, the tractor, and nine bundles of marijuana.

In the ongoing effort to disrupt human trafficking and smuggling, the Laredo Sector Border Patrol has created a toll-free telephone number for the community to report suspicious activity, 1-800-343-1994.

Yeah great start but can someone assure me they have actually arrested these criminals and wont just let them back out or be deported without facing the punishment they deserve?
