EDINBURG - Authorities arrested a man wanted for at least one aggravated robbery at a home near Edinburg.

Juan Ramon De Leon is accused of an aggravated robbery in an apartment about 4:37 a.m. Tuesday at 3428 N. Alamo Road. Authorities suspect De Leon committed several other home invasions in the area.

At his arraignment Monday afternoon De Leon, 31, was charged with one count of aggravated robbery.

Anyone who may have information regarding other aggravated robberies involving De Leon is urged to contact Hidalgo County Crime Stoppers at (956) 668-8477.

De Leon has an extensive criminal record, including seven aggravated robbery charges, three weapon arrests, and one count of terroristic threat. He had previously been deported, but since returned to the area, Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño said.

"This guy is a criminal illegal immigrant and he got kicked out of the country once before," Treviño said. "We are going to make sure he is prosecuted successfully and we're going to track him in the system to make sure immigration (authorities) get a hold of him and actually deport him."

Authorities said De Leon is a Mexican national who resided illegally in the Rio Grande Valley. He is set to be turned over to federal authorities to be deported.
