    TX: Fast Track Toll Bill Passes House

    House sends toll road bill to Senate

    The Texas House just passed a fast-track toll road proposal in an attempt to beat the governor’s veto clock Friday.

    The proposal drew 18 amendments, but none were over the objections of sponsoring Reps. Wayne Smith, R- Baytown, or Mike Krusee, R-Williamson County.

    Members voted 145-2 to approve the proposal on a tentative vote, then suspended the rules to pass it on a final vote. Reps. Debbie Riddle, R-Tomball, and Nathan Macias, R-Bulverde, voted no.

    The proposal now goes to the Senate.

    Gov. Rick Perry has threatened to veto a different toll road bill sitting on his desk and has until Friday to do so. Lawmakers are rushing to get him new legislation to avoid the veto.
