Federal agents arrested a Volusia County firefighter on Tuesday.

Steven Bussard Jr., 30, was accused of receiving and possessing child pornography. Even though the accusations are not related to his job as a firefighter, the county has suspended him without pay, officials said.

According to the federal indictment, Bussard received and possessed images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct on his home computer between July 2006 and June 2007.

On Tuesday morning, agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Bussard at the Spring Lakes Fire Station in Orange City.

A Volusia County spokesman said Bussard did not use computers at work to access child pornography, but he has been suspended without pay because of the allegations and arrest.

Bussard appeared in federal court in Orlando on Tuesday. After the hearing, he was released under certain conditions. He must have GPS monitoring and surrender all firearms.

Bussard must stay within the federal courts jurisdiction as the case moves through the legal system.
