Feds seize $1.1M of heroin at Hidalgo bridge

HIDALGO — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized 10 pounds of Mexican brown heroin at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge on Sunday.

According to an agency statemen, officers referred a taxicab to a secondary inspection when they met a northbound passenger attempting to enter the U.S.

During the secondary search, officials found two packages of Mexican brown heroin hidden in the passenger’s two suitcases. The man, a 23-year-old from Waco, was arrested and handed over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials for further investigation.

The drugs had an estimated street value of about $1.1 million.
