WESLACO - We're getting a first look at images captured by hidden cameras placed along Rio Grande Valley ranchland.

Photos show illegal immigrants and drugs crossing Texas ranchland. One image shows a man in what appears to be a military uniform. We learned the cameras helped catch more than 2,000 people and 5,000 pounds of narcotics in the last six months.

The cameras are basic wildlife cameras, often used by hunters. They can be bought at an outdoors or electronics store. They're motion-activated.

More than 250 cameras were set up along the Texas-Mexico border. The cameras are hidden in the brush. We don't know where they are. Some ranchers told us they don't know where the cameras are hidden on their property.

A team of local, state and federal agencies monitor the cameras up and down the border. DPS plans to add another 250 cameras before the end of the year.
