EL PASO - A prominent immigration attorney is demanding immigration authorities comply with a new federal policy and release his client. Maria de Jesus Chavez.
Chavez was detained December 9th at the border with her brother a Juarez radio broadcaster and his family. They fled after her two teenaged sons were murdered after Ricardo Chavez denounced his nephews' killing on the air.
His family got death threats.
other relatives are free...but not Chavez, the mother of the murdered teens. Her lawyer represents a growing number asylum cases involving people from Juarez. Spector wants his clients released.
"We're asking the Obama administration and the higher ups in Washington to take a good look at this in terms of the reluctance that this bureaucracy is going to continue to implement old rules"
According to a spokesperson with Immigration and Customs Enforcement the agency has been applying the new policy to new arrivals at the border --and those with credible for claims who are in custody.

TX-Immigration
TEXAS VOTERS WANT IMMIGRATION LAW ENFORCED. Why must we grant asylum to any of Mexico's people? They have allowed the government and drug corruption for decades. It was all ok as long as money filtered down to the uneducated, many of whom took jobs with the drug cartels.
If the Federal Government would actually enforce Federal Immigration Law, perhaps we could allow a few asylum seekers.
