TX Independent Candidate Craig Stephens Surges Despite Media

Texas Independent Candidate Craig Stephens Surges Despite Media Exclusion

San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) October 24, 2010

Craig T. Stephens is the only Independent Candidate for U.S. Congress on the Texas ballot. The 23rd Congressional District covers 785 miles along the U.S.-Mexico border. The House Representative Candidate received an unexpected boost from the Democratic Party as they attempt to split the conservative vote.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee states:

"Craig Stephens favors dramatically reducing taxes. Craig Stephens will fight to make drastic cuts to government spending, get tough on border security, and stop illegal immigration. In Washington, Stephens will make deep cuts to taxes and work to reduce the size of the IRS."

While this advertisement was aimed to reduce the threat of the Republican challenger, it appears to have brought the candidacy of the Independent Conservative to the forefront of the election.

The Liberty Institute, a nonprofit organization that publishes the "Free Voters Guide", refused to list Stephens as a Congressional candidate. Although claiming to be a comprehensive statewide guide, it discriminated against Craig Stephens by not substantiating his official candidacy in the 2010 General Election. Since his exclusion, Mr. Stephens has spent the majority of his time meeting people face to face and talking about the issues that are of greatest concern to registered voters in his District.

When asked how he felt about his chances, Mr. Stephens replied:

"Every citizen of this great nation deserves a chance to succeed. Party politics is destroying our nation, Republicans and Democrats are just taking turns filling their pockets. We can do better without the parties. I feel like we have a chance to make history and elect an Independent to the U.S. Congress."

Stephens has taken the unprecedented act of refusing campaign contributions in support of his candidacy. He believes that "If you accept money to support your campaign, the people who gave you the money...may actually think they've purchased a lawmaker."

Craig T. Stephens believes meaningful dialog can take place without the interference of party politics. With more issues on the line, an Independent candidate may force a greater voter turn out despite a history of political exclusion.

Sorry, but this man is a kook.

    New Law

If a member of the House or Senate votes to send the Military into harms way, such as Iraq or Afghanistan, then their children between the ages of 18 and 32 should be sent into combat with the rest of America's finest. If they object to combat operations, they can take pictures or provide medical care.

The children of US Congresscritters have absolutely nothing to do with the decision by Congress to go to war.

And on of that, this isn't the first time he ran. OH NOES. He split the vote and put a Democrat in the seat, but now that he wants the job again, and after seeing what the Democrat did, he sees he's made a mistake. Well, Craig, if 4 years ago you didn't know that doing anything to elect a Democrat was a mistake, then there's still far too much for you to learn about a party system you want to end but apparently have no knowledge of.

We have a volunteer armed services for the defense of our nation. No one is required to join and thus no one is forced to fight. To suggest that the actions of a member of Congress for the best interest of our nation should be paid for by drafting their children to fight the battles is as dastardly and misguided a plan as I've ever heard to this day.

For this candidate to be surging in Texas in the San Antonio area tells a sad story of who is voting in the polls. No wonder the Democratic Party endorsed him. They've been behind the loon all along.
