ANALYSIS: Lessons from Irving on immigration

The message from the Legislature in 2007, with some Republicans in concert, was that illegal immigration could not be solved at the state or local level. It’s the federal government’s job to enforce immigration laws.

But now we have Irving.

The Dallas suburb that’s home (not much longer) to Texas Stadium and the Cowboys has been thrust into the national spotlight, not for its team’s shot at Super Bowl glory, but for its steady working relationship with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), particularly in its use of the Criminal Alien Program (CAP).
