GATESVILLE (March 19, 2009)--Gatesville police have arrested a 21-year-old local man on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 14.

Francisco Javier Juarez is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond in the Coryell County Jail.

Juarez was arrested March 12 at his residence in Gatesville where it is believed he was caring for the child.

The victim in the alleged assault was a 4-year-old girl.

The charge is a 1st Degree Felony, punishable by 5 to 99 years or life in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.

The incident reportedly happened on Feb. 20 and was reported by the victim on Feb. 25.

Justice of the Peace Jimmy Wood both issued the arrest warrant on March 12 and set Juarez's bond.

Wood said Juarez also is being held on a federal immigration warrant because he is in this country illegally.
