HIDALGO — More than $277,000 in bulk U.S. currency was found on a commercial bus headed to Mexico by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge Tuesday afternoon.
CBP and U.S. Border Patrol agents working outbound enforcement operations at the Hidalgo International Bridge seized the money from a 33-year-old Mexican citizen from Nuevo Leon, México, according to a news release from CBP.
The woman, whose identity was not released, allegedly tried to conceal the cash inside her luggage, officials said. She was transferred to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.
