New Border Violence Drill to be Implemented at Bowie High School

EL PASO, Texas -- One El Paso school that is just feet way from the U.S.-Mexico border said it plans to train students and staff for a border violence spillover emergency.

This comes on the heels of a shooting about three weeks ago in Juarez.

The principal of Bowie High School told KFOX 14 they are developing what you could call a Border Violence drill.

It was on Aug. 6 that our crew was the only one to catch the aftermath of what the Border Patrol said was drug cartel violence.

That event had the school in lockdown.

Now with the first week of school underway, parents are asking what is being done to help protect students from a situation like this if it were to happen again.

“We needed to get the school year started. We need to have a couple of meetings with our security services, and then with our staff at that level. We have our next faculty meeting in about three weeks, and we plan to have something in place to share with the teachers at that point,â€
