LAREDO, Texas — A Mexican man is being detained after a customs officer discovered more than two tons of marijuana valued at $4 million hidden in plastic bags in a tractor-trailer.

The San Antonio Express-News reports U.S. Customs and Border Protection identified 29-year-old Ramiro Pena Castillo, of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, as the suspect. He was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

A customs officer working at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo discovered 210 bundles of marijuana weighing 4,015 pounds on Tuesday after stopping the truck for an inspection.

A drug-sniffing dog alerted him to the scent of narcotics.

Laredo is across the border from Nuevo Laredo.
