    Officials fear new border violence

    Friday, September 05, 2008 at 1:44 p.m.

Many fear that the fighting between drug cartels and Mexican authorities is getting worse.

Last month, American officials issued a warning that cartel hitmen were given the orders to cross to kill their targets in the United States.

Federal officials are now warning that deadly shootouts and ambushes along the U.S./Mexico border pose a serious threat to both law enforcement officials and American citizens.

Action 4 News has learned that 892 border patrol agents have been assaulted along the 2,000-mile border between October 2007 and July 2008.

How long before this reaches into every community of this country?

Are we going to wake up some fine morning in our small towns that have a chicken or meat processing plant and have an all out gang war going on?
