CO: Bill Asking Citizenship Proof To Vote Gets OK

Bill Asking Citizenship Proof To Vote Gets OK

Bill Would See If Registered Voters Are U.S. Citizens

A Republican proposal to prevent people from voting if they can't prove they're U.S. citizens got approval from a GOP-controlled House committee.

The bill approved Thursday requires the secretary of state's office to compare voter rolls with state and federal records to determine whether registered voters are actually U.S. citizens.

The government would send a letter to people asking them to show proof of citizenship within 90 days if there is any doubt about their ability to vote. People would be unable to vote if they do not comply.

Democrats opposed the bill and said it could inadvertently put a burden on U.S. citizens to prove their right to vote.

Republicans say the bill is absolutely necessary to prevent any voter fraud.

In Indiana we have always had to show ID to vote, atleast as long as I can remember. I am glad to see other states demanding as much. I have always voted and was surprised to find out how other states did not require ID. That is when I felt disenfranchised during the national elections. Why should my vote be diluted due to the disregard for common sense?

The sooner we get rid of the illegal aliens and the illegal alien loving corrupt politicians the better!

    One American, one vote!
