The Plano men booted from Ireland earlier this month were expected to begin their all-expense-paid trip back to the country this morning.

The three friends – Colin Zwirko, 21; Gavin Sides, 19; and Ben Whitehurst, 21 – were scheduled to board a flight from New York City to Dublin on Monday night. The men, who have received media attention in Ireland, were expected to speak at a news conference shortly after arriving, Zwirko said. Then, d4hotels, which paid for their flights and a week's hotel stay, will give them 1,000 euros – roughly $1,400 – to spend during their trip.

After a week in Dublin, the three plan to restart their backpacking trip. However, they might end up spending very little on the rest of the trip. That's because they've received so many offers of free trips from other hoteliers and hostels, Zwirko said.

Those offers came after the news that Irish immigration officials ordered them back to the United States, saying they lacked proof they had a place to stay and money to travel.
