HITCHCOCK — Three teenagers were hospitalized with stab wounds and another jailed for firing a gun after a night of fighting at the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo.

A knife fight involving three teenage boys severely injured one, who was taken by helicopter to University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Hitchcock Police detective LaDonna Sauceda said the injured boy flagged down officers near the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 10114 state Highway 6.

Two other teenagers who police suspect were also involved in the fight were found closer to the fairgrounds at Jack Brooks Park on state Highway 6 and taken by ambulance to the Mainland Medical Center in Texas City.

Police arrested one Texas City man for drug charges who may be a suspect in the stabbings, Sauceda said.

Jeff Wyers, head of fair security, said he didn’t know what caused the fight or which of the boys started it.

“We’ve got the suspects and we’ve got the victims, and right now we don’t know which one is which,â€
