A 25-year-old man remained in jail late Monday on a $400,000 bond for charges of robbing a series of convenience stores at gunpoint last week.

Jose Reyes-Munoz, 25, was arrested Friday evening and was being held in the Midland County Detention Center Monday on four charges of aggravated robbery, according to Midland County records.

After the arrest, Reyes-Munoz reportedly presented police with several identifications, said MPD Detective Bill Anderson. He was eventually booked under Reyes-Munoz, though Anderson said Immigration and Naturalization services likely will be looking into the validity of Reyes-Munoz's citizenship.

He is suspected in connection with three robberies in Midland and two in Odessa, police said.

The first occurred Sept. 9 around 11:30 a.m. at the 7-Eleven in the 3300 block of West Illinois Avenue, the second on Sept. 11 around 1:45 p.m. at the 7-Eleven in the 5400 block of Thomason Drive and the third around 6:20 p.m. on Sept. 12 at Loop 250 and "A" Street.

In each incident, police said the suspect approached the cashier when he or she was the only person working and revealed a gun while demanding money. The suspect was then seen fleeing each scene on foot. No one was injured in any of the robberies.

Two similar incidents occurred in Odessa on Friday and witnesses were able to record the license plate number of the suspect's blue Ford Expedition as he fled down 18th Street, according to Odessa police.

After the incident at Loop 250 and "A" Street, Midland police spotted the vehicle on Kansas Street and arrested Reyes-Munoz in connection with the robberies.

The cashier from the last robbery positively identified him as the suspect shortly after the arrest, police said, and Odessa authorities interviewed him in connection with the aggravated robberies there.
