Tonight, the shifting debate on Iraq. In the face of mounting
bad news about security and political progress, the Democrats
appear to be changing tactics and giving up on months of
pressing for a swift pullout. Now the Democratic leaders are
talking about striking a grand bipartisan compromise on Iraq
strategy—something critics see as a cave-in and a ploy to lower
public expectations. We’ll bring you the latest on the national
debate about our future in Iraq and how Congress is doing what
it does best: talking big but accomplishing little.

Mexican trucks could begin traveling freely throughout the U.S.
as early as today if the Bush administration receives
certification from the Transportation Department on its
cross-border trucking program. The Teamsters Union and some
lawmakers are outraged at the federal government’s negligence
on protecting this country’s motorists and borders. Tune in
tonight for that story.

More on the Mexican trucks with unfettered access to cross our
borders: Presidential candidate Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.)
says this shows the U.S. government's complete disregard for
our safety and security. Rep. Hunter will join us to talk about

Demand for low-cost goods in this country has caused big
business to send manufacturing to cheap foreign labor markets
like Communist China. We know from the recent spate of product
recalls on Chinese goods that cut-rate prices often come at the
expense of customer safety. But the Chinese laborers who make
these goods hardly benefit, either--internal audits conducted
by toy maker Mattel document continued hazardous conditions in
its Chinese factories. Has consumers’ thirst for cheap goods
made U.S. businesses look the other way on China’s labor
practices? We’ll bring you that special report tonight.

Lawmakers in Washington continue to push bits and pieces of the
Senate’s immigration reform bill that died last June. The House
Judiciary Committee held a hearing today on the STRIVE Act, or
"Security Through Regularized Immigration and a Vibrant
