Tyson Foods Opposes Immigration Law Enforcement

    Coalition Opposes Immigration Measures
    ANDREW DeMILLO

LITTLE ROCK — Three of Arkansas’ largest business interests joined with church leaders and activists Monday in a lobbying effort aimed at stopping any state or local legislation targeting illegal immigration.

Representatives from Alltel (nyse: AT - news - people ) Corp., Tyson Foods Inc. (nyse: TSN - news - people ) and Stephens Inc. announced an unlikely alliance with the American Civil Liberties Union, outspoken state appeals court judge Wendell Griffen and others to form the Arkansas Friendship Coalition.

Thank you for your message. Contrary to what you may have heard, we
have zero tolerance for employing people who are not authorized to work
in the U.S. We use the government's Basic Pilot program, now known as
E-Verify, to help verify the documents of the people we hire. In
addition, we train our hiring managers on employment documentation
procedures and work to increase their awareness of identification
    fraud.
We regularly audit our hiring process including work authorization
documents and also use an independent, outside company, which conducts
its own audit of our hiring practices.

If we learn one of our workers may not have authorization to work in
this country, we take immediate measures. If they are unable to correct
any discrepancies in their documentation, then they are released from
    employment.

Sounds like typical corporate babble-speak. Somehow, I just don't believe them. I wonder why???

If no illegal hiring practices exercised then why the need to oppose the law?
