July 11, 2007

SANTA TERESA, N.M. (AP) - Border Patrol agents have seized 1,354 pounds of marijuana at the Santa Teresa port of entry.

The agents say it was packed into a stolen pickup truck.

Agents stopped the pickup Tuesday evening after it illegally crossed the international boundary east of the port of entry. They say they found 1,278 packages of marijuana in the truck's bed and cab.

Authorities say a license check on the vehicle also found that it had been reported stolen.

Agents arrested the driver, identified only as a 24-year-old Mexican national. He was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration, along with the truck and marijuana.

The Border Patrol says the marijuana was worth more than $1 million.
